			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A nixie tube is a technology from the 50&#8242;s used to display numerals that are composed by metal filaments that light up much like a lamp bulb.  Due to their beauty these little numerals (0-9) are a love case for any designer, and formally it&#8217;s where the inspiration for the Nixin typeface came from.</p>

<p>All the other typeface characters and weights (Extra Light/Normal/bold) are an interpretation from the original 10 numerals, always keeping the same minimalistic spirit and formal elegance. Nixin is a geometric and regular typeface, with a vintage touch and a bit of modernism.</p>

<p>Though evenness is the driven philosophy for Nixin, “typefaces are not soldiers in an army”(*Erik Spiekermann), and its the subtle variations that keep different characters interesting and give Nixin a strong personality.</p>

<p>Being a geometric sans and due to its characteristics this typeface is highly legible in small sizes, but it stands particularly well as a display typeface where we can appreciate its details and construction, in particular the brackets and corners that always have the same curvature, regardless of the weight.</p>

<p>Nixin is minimalist and is based on two fundamental shapes: the circle and the rectangle that determine its behaviour in multiple variations.</p>

<p>We opted to be very simple and sober following Dieter Rams&#8217;s mantra “As little design as possible”. The focus on what is essential and a simple and direct to the point display of information will reinforce the message that RMG is high quality and objective.</p>
<p>RMG’s field of expertise is by its very nature very complex and dense, and this is one of the main reasons why clients require their services in the first place. To counterbalance these perceptions RMG&#8217;s visual communication have to be clear and effective avoiding most of the clutter that can so easily overwhelm.</p>

<p>Any project that&#8217;s related with the music field is always exiting; normally there is a good degree of freedom and the target audience is in general quite young, and that allows a good degree of experimentation and fun at the execution of these projects.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">We had to produce a 15&#8243; animation in record time to show in <a href="http://www.festineuch.ch/">Festineuch</a>, the musical festival in Neuchatel, Switzerland, and the result can be found below.</p>

The concept for the logo is very simple; a middle &#8220;L&#8221; as a metaphor for a tie and a composition with a high typeface to reflect its proportions.<br />

<p>Babel is a meeting place where several cultures collide and the only thing in common is creativity.</p>
<p>Babel is a creativity club promoting workshops, exhibitions, conferences, debates, and anything that might serve to create what is new.</p>
<p>The lettering for the logo marks the rhythmic perfection of the divine, and the irregular maze below represents the erratic path to get there. In simplistic terms is a representation of heaven / hell that can be processes of creation.</p>
<p>The logo is based on the golden ratio underlying the construction of perfection. The aesthetics of these proportions are  on the basis and backbone of the concept this identity.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>That was the challenge for the Startup Weekend Genève (Geneva) 2010. The concept of the Startup Weekend is to pitch an idea, build a team, and start a business in a weekend. After hearing some ideas I decided to join team 31 as were by far the most enthusiastic about their project, and passion is everything right?</p>
<p>The project was to build an application to search personal history across multiple social sites like facebook, tweeter, etc etc. Sounded good and immediately an idea popped in my mind for the design part. Search my social media = search myself = stick man with a magnifying glass.</p>

<p>After some sketches I was pretty confident with one solution by friday night and thought I would have a nice and slow weekend with plenty of time to develop my logo. But we didn’t have a name yet.   Project 31 wouldn’t make it as a name, and after spending Saturday morning creating a business plan and throwing ideas for the name, we came up with the catchy BackInMind. Perfect name, but ups, my  &#8220;perfect&#8221; logo was now useless. The shift from “search my something” to &#8220;something in my mind&#8221; made my first visual concept useless. Lesson number one in design 101, don&#8217;t go to the sketch board before having a strong name and concept..</p>

<p>Time was flying, and I still had to come up with a logo + motion to be ready by Sunday noon,  ready for the final presentation along with a working prototype of the app (built by our developers) and a really nice pitch.</p>
<p>Somehow I came up with this in about two hours:</p>

<p>And with this with an extra 4 (all done with an EEE netbook!!!)</p>

<p>There was no research, no experimenting, no time to mature the ideas, and no testing of the visual identity. In a nutshell; a neat experience on how not to do design but still manage to get something cool and have a lot of fun in the end!</p>
